LOCALIZATION


Localization is a practice of adapting a product to meet the requirement of the local language, culture, and a specific target market. At LCS, we define it as a process of content transformation through methodological research where we localize the content.

With any localization project, we cautiously analyze each phase of the project by considering all planned project milestones, gathering all contextual information, using CAT and other tools (SDLX & Trados 2007) effectively to deliver quality language solutions.

We have expertise in:

  • Software Localization: Software localization involves software development according to the requirements of the target language. Software localization requires proper attention to tags, codes, placeholders, graphics, data entry forms, etc. in order to make the software work properly. Quality assurance at each level of testing is taken to ensure flawless performance.

  • Website and Web portal Localization: Once a website has been translated, it is carefully formatted and tested to make sure all hyperlinks, forms, graphics, and scripts work properly for the localized versions. For quality assurance, functional and linguistic issues, we take adequate measures like use of software tools as well as human testing of the localized site.

  • GUI (Graphical User Interface) Localization: It includes user interface of any mobile, application software or tool. GUI Localization refers to the translation of the graphical user interface (GUI) components of the software, such as dialog boxes, menus, error and status messages, tool bars, buttons and strings displayed on a user's screen. An ideal localization process usually starts with the software GUI translation followed by localization of software parts like UA (User Assistance).

  • UA (User Assistance) Localization: It includes help files, user manual and other documents. Online help and user documentation translation should only begin after all software GUI strings have been fully translated and reviewed. This is because online help and user manuals often contain large amount of references to the software user interface elements. This process will ensure all GUI strings are translated consistently for all product components. Localization of help files is the biggest part of any software localization. Our translators are experts in various components used to build a help system such as hidden text, formatting tags, foot notes, and sorted items to ensure proper functionality of the help file.
